Dog Shit Village rebranded "prosperous and happy"

Residents of a remote mountain village in Southwest Guizhou province, China, have won a bid to change the name of their home town Goushi (translated into English, Goushi means Dog Shit Village) to something more palatable.

It was originally just a nickname established when locals noticed it was so inaccessible that dogs would go there especially to take a dump. But the name was adopted by local government officials and police and it even began appearing on maps.

After a road was built to link it to the outside, civilised world, disgruntled villagers were determined Goushino longer deserved its pooey reputation.Local governors finally agreed to rename it Jinxin, meaning prosperous and happy.
